Killing them dead

Thanks to Chad for sending me the link to this. I've been insisting for years that there is a serial killer on the loose killing college-aged men in college towns across the Upper Midwest. Now the La Crosse Police, in their infinite wisdom (the same infinite wisdom that allowed La Crosse to be the number one place in the U.S. to get away with a bank robbery in the late 1990's), have stated that there is no serial killer, which seems absolutely ridiculous. Now, there are other detectives who beg to differ. Hopefully my insistence is validated soon.

I am not going to say that all of the deaths that happened in La Crosse were because of a serial killer...I am going to argue that it makes it pretty easy to get away with it in La Crosse considering the amount and intensity that students drink. And I think that needs to change, especially if there is a serial killer in La Crosse. Why get so drunk and make yourself that much more vulnerable.

I think the approach the city of La Crosse has had, hasn't been the best one...they say all the evidence out there indicates the deaths were accidential drownings influenced by excessive drinking. They have been adamant there is not a serial killer. I'd say might want to be really really sure before another college student ends up in the drink.

I will say the city of La Crosse has done a few things right. I think the volunteer group that patrols riverside park during peak bar hours was a good idea. I think the movement towards more education about drug and alochol abuse is another step, and a step I encourage all the Universities in La Crosse to continue to utilize. And one last thing, as the evidence about Abstinent only sex education reveals, make sure it is effective education that really reaches the students at risk.

I just want to clarify my arguement about Abstinent only sex education, I am inferring it does not work because it did not reach the students at risk. And I caution providing alcohol and drug education that does not reach students at risk, because it won't work. Gotta connect and know your audience.

KSTP did an in depth investigation that's good. It's been airing this past week. Check it out

Everyone should watch the the clip I added because they might rethink the legitimacy of these being serial killings.

It seems like everyone in La Crosse except for the LCPD thinks there's a little more than coincidence with these. They're just too lazy to do the work.

after reviewing what chris had sent...the channel 13 reporter totally stole that from KSTP. almost verbatim.

It is not that the La Crosse Police department are too lazy to do the work. I think a big part of it is they are sick of all the alcohol related crime that happens in La Crosse. I imagine they are frustrated with it, and feel if they focus on reducing the amount and intensity people drink the whole serial killer probelm will go away. Again I am just assuming this, and it is not a bad strategy. But I think the main probelm is that no matter how much they curtail drinking related crimes and incidents, a serial killer or killers will find a way to achieve their goal.
