I was meandering around the interwebs looking at Tom Waits clips and found this sweet Tom Waits segment from David Letterman way back when he was the host of Late Night. This is from December 21, 1983, when he was doing press in support of the fantastic Swordfishtrombones, Waits's first self-produced album and the beginning of his second phase as an artist. This is a video. Two parts. The sound quality is a little rough as this was clearly originally recorded on VHS, but Waits performs "Frank's Wild Years" and "On the Nickel" with the two songs bookending roughly seven minutes of interview. Waits is Waits, which means you best watch this shit.
